Welcome to the camp, I guess you all know why we’re here… – The Who, “We’re Not Gonna Take It”

What's this?

(Part one of two.  Part two is here.)

I’m really not trying to make this the “screw Ron Paul” blog, it’s just that he’s SO screwed up and many of his acolytes are such excellent examples of a doublethinking, hypnotized bunch of submissive authoritarians that he continuously makes a great launching point for many, many important discussions.

So I’ve become involved in this FB group that seems to be largely inhabited by Ron Paul fans.

Talking to some of those folks is – much like talking to Paul himself! – like trying to staple Jell-o™.

One of the ongoing kerfluffles involves the racist, homophobic, or just plan “not quite all there” content of Ron Paul’s newsletters in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.

Personally I think the media is making a mistake by simply focusing on Paul’s racism.  Let’s face it, folks – Paul was born and raised in a time when casual racism wasn’t just accepted but it was the norm.  As a child of the 70’s and 80’s myself, I have seen “the N word” shift and slide around on the scale of social acceptability for four decades, and for much of my formative years it was just a word you used if you were a (supposedly) white kid in a working-class suburban home.  Most people older than 25 or so look at something like that and just go “yeah, a lot of us had to learn better, pity for him he had to say such stupid crap in public,” and if his policies were otherwise unobjectionable people would just let it go at that.  Fine, he blew it, he’s contrite, the end.

With Paul though, his policies – his philosophy – is not otherwise unobjectionable.  It’s a broken, twisted, ill-informed view of the world that simply does not bear much relationship to demonstrated reality.

So that’s background.

Meanwhile, over on Facebook…

So there’s this cat in this group who really adores the hell out of some Ron Paul.  While Paul himself has never given up copies of the newsletter, they’ve also been pretty scarce through other means.  Recently however there was a document dump – and all credit to MrDestructo.Com and their user Hereisarch who added some of his own collection to the pile - of fifty-some-odd pages from the original newsletters, (plus a rebuttal to critics) including all of the things you’ve heard reported and many more.  Me being the kind and gentle soul that I am, I shared a link to this archive with all my new friends in this group.

When I started writing the below, the Paul fan in question was on page two of 50+, reading each and “spinning” it to make Paul look good, etc.

The next one is about Michael King aka Martin Luther King having plagiarized his dessertation and being a womanizer, communist and pedophile.
well it seems that Martin Luther King was a cheater and liar and when it came to his doctorate a cheater and a liar.
As to the Communist pedophile, thing we have to wait until 2027 to find out, since they original file is sealed by court order until then.

This is in reference to the following passage from Paul’s newsletter:

“Dr.” King

So now even the establishment press admits that Martin Luther King plagiarized his PhD dissertation, his academic articles, his speeches, and his sermons.

ron-paul-dr-kingHe was also a comsymp (“communist sympathizer” – I’ve seen the word before, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen it used as anything but a trope to prop up the portrayal of a too-eager “patriot,” usually military or intelligence, in a badly-written TV show. –jh), if not an actual party member, and the man who replaced the evil of forced segregation with the evil of forced integration.

King, the FBI files show, was not only a world-class adulterer, he also seduced underage girls and boys.  the Rev. Ralph David Abernathy revealed before his death that King had made a pass at him many years before.

And we are supposed to honor this “Christian minister” and lying socialist satyr with a holiday that puts him on a par with George Washington? (who, among other interesting hobbies, owned fucking human beings, not to take anything away from his legitimate accomplishments –jh)

Congratulations to Arizona!  (Note: there’s a hand-written, penciled date on the top of one of these pages – 12-90.  In 1990, as a gauge of what was happening with this issue, the NFL threatened to move the Super Bowl planned for Arizona in 1993. –jh)  Who could doubt that the result would be exactly the same if the other 49 states could also vote on a holiday for this affirmative-action saint!

Yes, he really said that.  “Affirmative-action saint.”  And Saint Paul’s acolyte defends by being insulting and rude. It should also be noted that Captain Honesty McJournalism up there posted only a direct link to the first page of the passage about King (not even to an article that would have shown another link right under it to the next page)…which included only the part in the photo above that appears above the red line  – the part that, unfortunately for reality but conveniently for Paul and those who might wish to deliberately distort his record by publishing only the first paragraph of a four paragraph piece NOT THAT I’M SUGGESTING ANYONE INVOLVED HERE MIGHT WANT TO DO THAT – has some documented truth to it.  Note:  this changed after I wrote the article, and both pages were eventually posted.

But wait, there’s more!

Our Public Schools

ron-paul-our-public-schools-condomsThe New York City public schools, which employ—according to U.S. News  & World Report—more educational bureaucrats than all of western Europe!, have a new program.  It’s not to teach reading, writing, or math, which this government monopoly has failed so miserably at.  (Paul demonstrates the abysmal horror of public education by ending a sentence on a preposition…and brother if you thought schools were struggling before, look how they’re doing now that we’ve privatized a quarter or so of them and parts of the rest! –jh)  It’s to distribute condoms to the students!  (Gasp! –jh) But we shouldn’t worry, say the bureaucrats, They are exempting elementary schools, and concentrating on high schools and junior highs.

Yeah, “Doctor.” Because Cthulu knows if you don’t give them condoms, kids won’t have sex. But Our Man Of Medicine doesn’t just prescribe a quack fix for teen pregnancy, he also comes out against condom use and premarital sex:

Government-Promoted Promiscuity

ron-paul-govt-promiscuity-aidsAll during the 1980’s, sexual activity among teenage girls increased, says the liberal Guttmacher Institute.  They purported to be surprised, but the kinds of programs they promote—as illustrated by the condom item above – can have no other effect.  (Note that comprehensive sex education, condom distribution, and broad dissemination of correct information about HIV/AIDS is credited far and away with having been among the most successful public health initiatives ever taken. –jh)  Kids growing up in today’s hypersexual atmosphere believe the safe sex propaganda that condoms prevent AIDS.  (Apparently Dr. Paul is the only licensed man of medicine in these United States who does not believe that condom use helps to prevent the transmission of HIV. –jh) The only safe sex, medically and morally (emphasis added –jh) is that between husband and wife.

Oh, but the fun doesn’t stop here!  Read on…
