There has been a pretty disturbing flood of boneheaded bullshit coming across my desk lately, and I really feel like I need to shoot some of it down.
9-11 was not an “inside job.” Phrases like “false flag attack” and “zionist conspiracy” and all those other stupid little phrases that are supposed to fool people into thinking the writer knows what the hell they’re talking about? They’re all bullshit. There is no “false flag attack.” There is no “inside job.” There weren’t billions in gold stashed in the WTC, and there was no US government complicity in the perpetration of 9-11. This is the behavior of disgusting, malicious, misery pimps exploiting the fear and anxiety created by 9-11, poverty, the BP oil spill, and a million other tragedies – including both sides of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict – to convince people who feel powerless and afraid that if they just watch THIS VIDEO or read THIS BOOK – all of which generate income for the people who produce them – then they will no longer be powerless and afraid. I actually saw a video today in which a televised recital by Queen Elizabeth II of the creation of the King James Bible was put forth as evidence that Queen Elizabeth II herself wrote the bible. I’m an agnostic with a long public history of antipathy toward organized religion, and even I couldn’t stop saying “oh my god, this is the biggest stupidest bunch of bullshit I’ve ever heard in my life.”
But people believe it, because it makes them feel fucking smug and superior that they know the real truth, and you don’t.
You are indeed being exploited and lied to – by the pissant P.T. Barnum circus sideshow promoters of the world who create these elaborate smokescreens of bullshit in order to convince you that you have some control over events which are not in your control.
The worst thing about this is that it entirely destroys the very real control that each of us does have – the power to apply our critical thinking skills (those of us who have any such skills remaining, at least) to the understanding of the causes and solutions to problems of violence, hate, war, terrorism, radical religious manipulation, and ignorance. You don’t have to get the facts and actually think, if you’ve got some jackass conspiracy theorists giving you all the answers. Now you have answers, and that gives you comfort. Cheap, saccharine comfort that solves nothing, answers no questions, offers no solutions, and is ultimately every bit as destructive, if not more so, than the “conspiracies” and “oppression” that such people are babbling about.
Furthermore, these childish fantasies detract from the real and very serious issues surrounding us in the world today. Issues like, why are people able to be taken in by violent radical rhetoric that an autistic five year old with terminal brain cancer can see through? Issues like how can our developed societies teach our undeveloped societies to get along in the developed world rather than using the brute force and stupid brutality of cultures in regions of the world which have been war-torn for decades or centuries? When a developed nation reaches out to help the truly oppressed people, they tend to find to their chagrin that the truly oppressed people are, by and large, vicious ignorant assholes who will just as happily rape and kill people in your warm developed nation as in their cold undeveloped one, because they have learned over generations that violence is the only power. How about we try solving THAT problem, instead of wasting brain power with ignorant conspiracy theories and stupid, self-serving bullshit that only makes us feel like we’re smarter than everyone else so we can have at the very least the empty pride of smugness and schadenfreude?
Oh, now I remember. Because solving REAL problems involves looking within ourselves and being willing to honestly asses where WE are wrong, what mistakes WE have made, how WE have each, individually, contributed to the problems we face. Nah, the US hasn’t dropped to the lower 1/6th of the developed world in academic testing because we’ve allowed our public education system to be strangled by red tape and fundamentalist assholes who would just as soon keep all our women well-beaten and our children taught to hate everything different than them from the moment they can talk. It must be the dirty immigrants’ fault! No, of course the terrifying spike in military suicides isn’t because more and more of our military personnel are realizing that the war for democracy they were told they were fighting is bullshit and what we’re really conducting is mass murder and genocide for profit, it must be because they’re just not strong enough to hang. No, the BP oil spill couldn’t be a direct result of our ongoing refusal to DEMAND the elimination, as quickly as possible, of the use of petroleum and its byproducts to fuel our oversized micropenis compensation vehicles and feed our insatiable hunger for the ability to have something our neighbors don’t so we can feel like we’re more important than they are. It MUST have been a CONSPIRACY with that dirty n* in the white house, I TOLDYA electing a jig was gonna get us in trouble, but you didn’t listen!
Seriously, have we decompressed so entirely and so quickly that people legitimately are incapable of hearing how completely shit-filled their mouths are when they speak? Worse, have we become so stupid that we don’t realize that the assholes who generate these conspiracies do so not because they have any particular insight or information, but because they’re unethical cowards and traitors to freedom and intellectual growth who are preying on your fear-induced ignorance for profit so that they can continue to have their share of the “new world order” pie?
The soul-less, wretches sub-humanoid lizard turds that perpetuate this kind of nonsense are evil and sick and they are destroying us from within. They are killing us with self-satisfaction, inside information that is neither inside nor information, schadenfreude, hate, smugness, entitled superiority. They are shoving shit into our minds to crowd out the sanity, because sanity works against the financial interests of these bottom-feeding pieces of shit. They can’t get hits to their videos and cash that AdSense check if you’re too smart to buy in to their bullshit, so they just stuff you full of more and they lead you in circles and confuse you, they mutate and warp concepts like truth and integrity and justice until they are no longer recognizable. From the criminally insane producers of Fox News to the pissant crackhead jailhouse lawyers who come up with things like “the US government took town the twin towers” and “There’s a second hidden oil leak right next to the first” and ANYONE who finds ANYTHING redeeming on EITHER side of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, these people are killing our planet for their own short-term gain, and while we sit in our trailers getting angry about the evil government conspiracy to pry our guns from our cold dead fingers, they are laughing all the way to the bank.
There is nothing about these conspiracy theories that is even the least bit better than the “oppression” they claim to be fighting. Wake up and smell the coffee – just because it comes from the government doesn’t mean it’s evil…and just because it doesn’t, doesn’t mean it’s not.
Conspiracy theorism is just another way for the unethical to separate the fearful from their money. Stop feeding these assholes.
