Did You Help A Traveler?

24. June 2009 by John Henry 2 Comments

Hi, thanks for stopping by.  This blog entry is being written for the benefit of any stranger who may help (have helped, by the time you read this) me as I try to make my way back to my home in Michigan from being stranded by "friends" in California.  I'm just putting this up so that you know that your generosity was not wasted on some homeless bum trying to score booze or drugs or gambling money - I really am stuck in California, I really am trying to get back to Michigan, and if you gave me cash it really is being used to help me get there.

I have food.  What I need is gas and enough money for an oil change.  My plan is to make my way from Woodland, California to Kalamazoo, Michigan with a big sign that says:

STRANDED
WANT TO GO HOME
NEED GAS
PLEASE HELP

I think people will help - most often by filling my tank, I'm sure, since handing cash to a stranger is risky and not guaranteed at all to be spent on gas or other positive things.  I understand.

If you're here because I gave you my card, thank you.  You have saved my life.  Feel free to leave a comment or whatever - I can't promise that I'll ever be able to pay you back, but it'll be easier for me to do so if I know who you are.

Many thanks to all my REAL friends for their support during this terribly difficult time in my life.  I'll update as soon as I can.

Thanks hon.  I'll be all right - gonna blog about everything here in a sec.

And you know...even those friends who have no more money than I do, it means so much to have people drop by to comment here, or holler on facebook or call me or whatever.

I'll be back soon!
