What's Up

18. June 2009 by John Henry

So I went to the homeless shelter last night...and was told in no uncertain terms that parking there overnight and staying inside - where I would be locked in - would be a really good way to wake up without a computer, camcorder, camera, clothing, or a car.

Needless to say, I didn't stay there.  I parked at a wal-mart and tried to sleep, but couldn't.

I haven't had any real sleep since Sunday :(

There are some residential motels around that I'm currently checking prices on, but thus far they all seem to be REALLY outrageous - like $75+ a night.  Think the cheapest so far was like $55 a night.  Plus 11% tax.  Was thinking if I could get in to an extended stay single room with internet access I might be able to actually have a target to say to people "this is how much I need to cover my butt for a week and get me where I can sleep and grind the heck out of Monster, Hotjobs, etc."

Unfortunately...not looking like a realistic plan, at least thus far.  Even at $55 a night, that's $400 a week or so with tax, and that's before I worry about having gas to actually get to an interview if one comes up.

Yeah.  It sure is nice to have friends who "would NEVER let you sleep on the streets."

Travelodge in Sacto looks like $35 a night, maybe that'd work.

Jesus.  All I need is a roof over my head, a flat surface to sleep on, and an internet connection for a month, and I'd be fine.

I hate people.
