The City, The Beauty, The Beast, and What's Next?

Went down to San Francisco last night.  Hung out at a gay karaoke bar for a while and had fun.  (Yes, I am capable of having fun in a gay bar.)

Met a fascinating and beautiful young lady by the name of Katya, who is a friend of Bekah's, who is a friend of Tessa's (and I guess it's safe to say a friend of mine now too).  Very, very nice looking, this Katya.  Unfortunately she didn't stay long, but she has bright, intelligent eyes and a gorgeous smile.  She's younger than I am - mid-twenties - which doesn't bother me at all.  Hopefully it won't bother her.  Definitely the sort of girl that I could get interested in.  Plus she apparently does some amateur modeling, which could be a useful thing for me as I continue expanding my interest in photograhy - she'd be a really gorgeous subject to shoot out in the Vaca hills.  Wonder if she'd be willing to do nudes?  I really want to give a shot at artistic nude photography, but it's hard to find a model without either paying someone or getting slapped in the face when I ask a random stranger to get naked.

Actually, in this case the girl in question would make a great model with her clothes on, too.  I guess we'll just see how things go.  It's so hard to be taken seriously when you say 'hey I'd love to take naked pictures of you' to a woman, and you're a straight man - they think you're a horndog who's just trying to get them naked.  Which...well, I am a horndog, I guess, or at least I have no less interest in naked women than any other healthy, heterosexual guy, but I'm also legitimately interested in taking tasteful photos of nude women.

Will make for a hell of an icebreaker at any rate, if I ever get a chance to broach the subject with her.

Anyway, I had a great time and met some more really fun folks.  If I ever manage to get moved closer to the city, I could see myself hanging here for a while.  A while longer if it should turn out that Katya finds me as intriguing as I do her.

Meantime, I continue to work on developing websites and various other ideas to nickle-dime my way to a wealthy early retirement.  I've also got a ton of pictures to go through and upload, from my trip and from trips to SF and so forth.

I'm definitely feeling much more creative lately...feeling myself sort of waking up and inspired to create.  I posted a long (20 minutes) video rant to YouTube about the religious right and gay marriage and so forth.  I've got some ideas slowly coalescing for "that site," the one I'm hoping to actually get some decent traffic with.

Life, in general, is very good.  Not perfect - perfect is when I'm fully on my own two feet again! - but very good.  I'm certainly happier in general here than I have been in years, so that's a good thing.  And in spite of my own low self-esteem, I am apparently not incapable of catching the eye of an attractive and - I'm betting, but confident - intelligent woman.

That's my world for the day.  Onward.
