So This Is It

I’m done.  All I have left to do is finish burning cd’s for Amber, break down my rig, pack the rest of it with my file cabinet and other ‘last-minute’ stuff (like leaving the camcorder to charge for as long as possible!)

Once I’ve finished with that, it’s into the shower here one last time, then grab my various shampoos and toiletries on the way out, and I’m outta here.

Still can’t believe I’m doing this, but away I go.

Found some very cool stuff that Amber had, including the video we did during the summer of 2004 for her honors english project.  What did Amber and I do over the summer?  Well, we went and saw Farenheit 9-11…and this video was the result.

She got a 99.

Found more vid of me playing drums, including a nice chunk of ‘Master of Puppets’ (just me, not with a band) and some exercise/practice stuff that might be fun YouTubing.

I’ve got my camera cleared off and a couple of spare sets of rechargable batteries.

I’ve got the video for my camcorder.

I’ve got my nicotine gum and my little tampon-lookin’ inhaler thing.

I’ve got a full tank of gas, a van full of stuff…and the open road in front of me.

I’ll miss everyone behind me.  Most of all I’ll miss the hell out of my daughter.  I’m so proud of her you can’t believe it.  She gets it…and what more can a dad ask, really?

There are a few folks here in NC that really made my life worth living.  Most of them are the kids (several of them young adults now, many graduating high school this weekend) I worked in the theatre with.  Daniel Gierisch, Katie Tharrington, the Black sisters, the Humberts, Channing Elliott, Rachel Sherwood, the Murrays, Jo Gorski, the rest of the kids who worked with me from Annie at Granville Little Theatre to our last production at Road Less Traveled (the second ‘Romeo and Juliet).  Mike Hansen and Jackie Grant at Nortel.  Mike Ross from Days of Rage.  The OmegaPowers.  Megan Day.

Other than them, there aren’t a lot of people here who read me online or whatever, so it’d be kind of wasted energy to list them all.

I haven’t heard from Sammy.  I don’t know if I will.  If I do, great.  If I don’t…I’ll live.  I won’t like it, but I’ll live.  I have plenty to keep my attention, and fill it if necessary.

Eleven states.  Five days.  A new life.  Huge thanks to my friends [REDACTED: Names hidden retroactively to protect the guilty. Seriously. Assholes.] for making this possible.

I’ve got my phone, feel free to give me a call if you have the number.
