I get a kick out of this...Coldplay accusing Joe Satriani of being unoriginal.  This reeks of the same sort of lack of self-awareness that might prompt Pauly Shore to call Sam Kinison unfunny, or maybe induce Milli Vanilli to accuse Pearl Jam of being trendy and prefabricated.  Satriani is a legendary guitarist who has been creating quality, original music longer than 99% of Coldplay or their fan base have been alive.  Coldplay is a gaggle of cookie-cutter 2K pop schlock with all the redeeming musical and social value of a box of hammers.  STFU and go back to being night managers as Wendy's or something, you hosebags, and let someone with some talent get some of the press you're vacuuming up with your gravity-like sucktitude.

I've decided, with some difficulty, that I will not be renewing my World of Warcraft subscription when it expires in a little less than two weeks.  I've had a great three years (and then some) playing, and I'll miss the heck out of it, and I hope that at some point I'll be able to get back to it...but let's get real.  I am stuck in Hell in most every conceivable way right now from my finances to my emotional state, and nothing about that is going to be changed by playing a video game, even if I'm really GOOD at it.  On top of which, this craptastic Alltel connection - which is still light years better than the enormous pile of suck that is HughesNet - can't even support the bandwidth for a 10-man run consistently, let alone getting at the super-cool 25-man content.  Bottom line:  Until I can afford to a) move to a civilized country, b) pay for a decent connection, and c) cover at least 6 months' subscription ahead of time, I've got no business even trying.  Therefore, the Genius family of fine characters on WOW's Alexstrasza-US server (you can see my character sheets by searching this blog for 'Alexstrasza') will be entering a state of suspended animation.  Whether I ever get back to the game is an open question, but if I do I'd be genuinely surprised if it happens before the end of the year.  Honestly...I've got more important and productive things to do, and they're just not getting done as long as I have access to that game...in part because of the nature of the thing, and my nature.  I'm paying for it, so I want to get every minute I can out of it, so I end up neglecting other things in order to do so.  Time to move on, at least for now.  Maybe when I've been able to shift my focus to more important matters, it'll be easier to get back into the game without it consuming my every waking moment...but right now, the space in my head is Poland, and WOW is the armies of the Third Reich annexing it.

I've got some ideas kicking around my head for podcasts and/or maybe? videocasts...haven't really made up my mind on that one yet.  Also got my head shoved so far into WOW at the moment anything I'd have to say would likely relate to that...and while WOW's a popular game, I think it would likely bore 90% of my visitors to tears if I started blogging and podcasting about it in any detail, so I won't.

Word on the street is I'll officially be a grampa sometime around the beginning of August.  Word on the street is also that I'll be visiting Sunny California sometime in the next couple of months.  God knows I could use the vacation!  More on that as it develops.

Guess that's really all for now.  Seeya soon.
