Sometimes, I feel like this.

4. March 2009 by John Henry

So I was screwing around with Paint.NET, the now-independent editing tool that started life as the successor to MS Paint but was never included in Vista as originally planned.

I made this.  It's all artistic and deep and meaningful and stuff.

I've been notified that I'll finally get paid for my ongoing Great Big Job on Friday.  This is very excellent, because it means that *ta-da* I get to finally replace my broken computer.  On the down-side, it means I'll likely be offline for most of the next two, three days because I'm going to pull my office area apart, spring-clean it, and reassemble it before I put the new computer in there.  Then it's weeks and weeks of trying to rebuild the OLD computer, get all my files off it, and turn it into a file server.

Which I guess is kinda dumb because the old box only has 250Gb of hard drive and the new one will have at lesat a terabyte.  Oh well.  I just hate to waste anything, I guess.  Maybe I'll do something else with it, or something.  I don't know.  We'll see.  The big thing is I HAVE to get my stuff off the old hard drive - there's about 60Gb of music there, plus my WoW installation and years of screenshots (some of which I'll end up using for various projects), and Tessa's book cover, and so on.  PLUS I've got to move this site, and the rest of the sites on this server, to my new hosts before April 1st.

And I've got a bunch of followup work to do.  And I've got a potential new client coming in as well, although I've told them it'll be the first week of April at the earliest before I can get them an estimate.  We'll see how it goes.  I'm just happy to know I'll have a decent machine again within a few days.  I've been feeling really creative and energetic (off and on) lately, and it's incredibly frustrating to have no tools to work with.

Other than that...it's a day.  One more little step closer to having a life.  Hope everyone's doing well.
