Grrrrr outages. I've tried really, really hard to deal with these ongoing issues with my hosting company, but I'm at the end of my rope. If it was just me maybe I'd let it ride, but I have customers who were out of service for three days between Christmas and New Year's. NOT cool. They've bent over backwards to compensate me for the ongoing issues...but the bottom line is that if you're giving people free service or otherwise "compensating" them for issues, then you're already too late. The right way to deal with these things is to not have issues in the first place.
Happy New Year!
I guess I went through my year-end introspection early or something. I've not been thinking about the past at all the last few days, but have been grinding hard to get my current active client sites done. I got a bit behind on some things, but am getting them caught up now.
I do, have some realy awesome new tools over at LowGenius.Com. Unfortunately, the vast majority of them are client-only tools. I'm in the middle of rebuilding/tweaking that site, as well, so there's not much public content there, but that will change as soon as I can get to it. What makes it nice is that's a whole CRM system with project management, helpdesk, knowledge base, and much, much more, all of it geared toward helping me personally get organized, as well as helping me keep better track and documentation of what I'm doing for whom. Billing systems, on and on. Both aspects of these improvements are a pretty serious step forward from "I know a guy who does websites" to "My web designer is..." so that feels pretty good. I hate the delays, but the long-term is that I'll actually have shorter delivery times, plus MUCH better client communication, more stability, more scalability.
I'll discuss it more later on down the road, but: www.netograph.com I'll have some very special offers for readers of this blog as relates to that site, soon.
Slowly working my way back home. My current goal is to be move back up there in my own place by the end of this coming summer. Will I actually make it? Hard saying, but I think I'm headed in the right direction - a growing list of quality client sites, several ongoing projects and notions that should all bring a few nickles and dimes here and there...hopefully it'll all add up. There's so much more I want to do, but I'm just too restricted by my current situation to get it done.
And I'm not getting anything done sitting here yapping in my blog, but I did want to stop in for a sec and let folks know what was up, with the outage and all. I'm just staying very busy and work-oriented right now, so I haven't had a lot of time for WoW or Facebook or all the other stuff.
As always, if you know someone who needs quality web design, please let me know - I need all the work I can get! For right now, I need to get some major dents made in my outstanding client work. Thanks as always for reading, feel free to comment or drop me a line via the contact form!
