There are three key realities that have all but ruined the flow of quality, accurate information in US media. Until we grasp those realities there will be no improvement, nor even abatement of decline.
There appears to be a lot of confusion - much of it propagated by those with a vested interest in keeping people confused - about exactly why it matters that content creators be properly credited for their work, why downloading and reposting a funny graphic is a dick move but properly sharing (either by using the "share" button or by including an @ link back to the source if you're on a phone or something and have no share button) isn't, and why it blows that there are some people out there making a lot of money on other people's backs and you are helping them do it.
